This project involved the near-complete demolition and reconstruction of the existing Victorian rear outrigger, creating a distinctive contemporary extension and roof terrace while respecting the character of the original property.
Working closely with R2 Studio Architects, the project combined extensive structural alterations with highly detailed architectural finishes. The rebuilt extension features bespoke black brickwork, specialist timber screening, new roof structures and carefully integrated glazing, creating a striking yet sensitive addition to the home.
Internally, the ground floor was reconfigured to create a series of interconnected living spaces centred around a bespoke kitchen and extensive custom-made joinery. A new staircase, specialist glazing details and bespoke architectural metalwork were carefully coordinated to achieve the architect’s design vision.
The first-floor extension incorporates a private roof terrace, outdoor sauna and shower, with bespoke timber screening providing privacy while maintaining openness and light.
Throughout the project, exceptional attention was paid to craftsmanship and detailing, from the bespoke joinery and microcement finishes to the integration of complex architectural features. The result is a highly individual home that demonstrates the value of close collaboration between architect and contractor.
